Smallbore silhouette funshoots will be held on Handgun Range A. During this shoot, the targets will be set at closer distances and shooting will be done at a casual pace for new shooters to try out the sport in a fun environment. For the purpose of these shoots the only requirement is that the rifle is chambered for .22 rimfire ammunition (.22LR, .22 long or .22 short). Hot loaded “stingers” and magnums are not permitted as they can damage the targets.

During a typical smallbore silhouette match, steel silhouettes of chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams are placed on rails at the respective distances of 40, 60, 77 and 100 meters. There are ten of each animal placed on rails in two banks of five. The shooter is then given 2 minutes and 30 seconds to take 5 shots at a bank of animals from the standing position without additional support. A hit is counted as a point if an animal is knocked over for a maximum of 40 points in a match. This sport is great for the shooter that enjoys instant gratification as you can watch the target react from the hit.

The B.C. Target Sports Association has adopted the NRA rules, a complete rule book can be found at the link below.
