Big Bore Turkey Shoot Rules

General Rules:

Events will be held at 100m, 200m, 300m and 400m. 16 events consisting of sporter, varmint, hunter and open-sights categories. Cost is $3.00/event. Events will be mixed between bench, off-hand and off-elbows. Click here for the rules for each category.

Sighting-in from 9am to 10am. Events start at 10:00am. No sighting-in or warm-up shots will be permitted after events start. Events will progress from 100m to 400m, with a break for lunch.

Sign up on sign-in sheet prior to shooting. Sign up on 1 target number only. Shooters will shoot on the same target number for the day. Anyone shooting on the wrong target will forfeit that event only. If someone shoots on your target; if 2 different calibers can be distinguished, your shot will be scored as per normal. If the shots cannot be identified, the shooter will get the benefit of doubt and the best shot will be scored.

Only one shooter at a time per bench. Anyone not shooting must remain behind the shooting line. Please respect other shooters and keep chatter to a minimum while the shooting line is active.

No spotting scopes allowed on shooting benches after warm-up. Once shooter is on the line, there will be no spotting until event is completed.

All competitors must use rests supplied for bench events. No personal rests permitted (sandbags will be supplied). Off-hand and off-elbows events: No slings or other supports allowed.

The Rifle Range is closed for the day on Turkey Shoot dates. NO EXCEPTIONS

Each event will be scored for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Points will be recorded: 3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd place and 1 point for 3rd place. In case of tie, points will be split. Shoot-offs will occur to decide winner upon discretion of the match director. Prizes will be awarded to 1st place for each event, up to a maximum of 2 prizes per shooter.

Points will be accumulated towards high point aggregate trophy, which is presented at the Vernon Fish & Game Club Annual Banquet. A trophy will be presented at the banquet to the most improved shooter (based on 3 year average).
